A Practice that Joins Science-Based Natural Medicine, Nutrition, and Psychotherapy
I am a naturopathic doctor and clinical psychologist licensed in both professions in California. My practice, The Mind-Body Clinic, has offices in San Francisco and Marin. While I obtained my ND from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon, and received my PhD from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California, education and training have remained life-long pursuits for me.
In clinical work, my aim is to identify and treat the upstream contributors to a patient's symptoms. This requires addressing the hormonal, nutritional, toxic, infectious, allergic, and psychological factors that can lead to the various manifestations of illness. As each person is unique, so are the causes of her health problems. This means that any effective treatment approach must also be personalized, and not drawn from a medical "cookbook" for the mythical average person.
For many patients, hormone imbalances are at the root of their physiological and psychological suffering. In those cases, bioidentical hormone supplementation is a vital part of the treatment plan. But for this approach to be safe and efficacious, it must be based on what a particular person's body needs. To determine this, I gather objective laboratory data before and after prescribing hormones. To provide the best preparations, I work closely with a renowned local compounding pharmacy that specializes in formulating bioidentical hormones, and can ship directly to patients.
